To aggressively scale global access to critical agricultural data, Plant Stress Biology functions under a complete Open Access blueprint. Upon official acceptance and transmission of a manuscript into our production stream, the authors retain full copyright ownership of their core theoretical models and data layers.

All scientific content is published immediately under the provisions of the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY) License. This legal system allows any public actor, library infrastructure, or automated text crawler to copy, redistribute, extract, remix, transform, and build upon the printed material for any purpose, including commercial endeavors.

Rights Allocation Matrix Legal Terms

The integration of the CC BY structure defines a explicit allocation of permissions between the authors, the open audience, and our publishing institution:

Author Pool Retains complete copyright ownership without restriction. Maintains absolute freedoms to reuse, compile, or distribute complete text artifacts.
The Public Audience Permitted to read, parse, query, crawl, translate, or extract content across any global digital channel without encountering paywalls.
The Journal System Granted an irrevocable, permanent right of first publication, alongside the authorization to archive, parse, distribute, and format text layouts into index registries.

Author Retained Freedoms Author Permissions

Because copyright parameters are retained by the authors rather than transferred to the journal, authors do not need to request official authorization to proceed with any of the following activities:

  • Institutional Deposition: Self-archiving early versions, postprints, or final typeset publisher files within institutional file storage servers or personal homepages.
  • Educational Dissemination: Extracting visual figures, table matrices, or raw text fragments to weave into teaching syllabus modules, textbooks, or scientific thesis sheets.
  • Commercial Adaptations: Incorporating underlying patent structures or genetic adaptation data into subsequent industrial crop development designs.

Integrating Third-Party Material Prerequisites

When submitting manuscripts containing asset blocks—such as high-definition mapping elements, specific field charts, or data illustrations—that were previously printed inside subscription-locked journals, authors are entirely responsible for procuring written clearance from the original copyright holder.

All cleared external graphics must be explicitly identified within the document text using descriptive figure captions (e.g., "Reproduced with permission from [Author], [Year], [Journal Title]"). Proof of written clearance must be uploaded as a supplementary file during portal processing.
