A Transparent Overview of Our Peer-Review Pipeline and Editorial Turnaround Times

Editorial Turnaround Commitment

At Plant Stress Biology, we understand that rapid, unhindered dissemination of climate-adaptation and environmental crop science data is critical for global agriculture. Our editorial tracking matrix balances meticulous scientific auditing with rapid system throughput, removing standard publication blockages while preserving peer-review integrity.

The Processing Pipeline

From the point of online data ingestion to final digital typesetting and global assignment, each manuscript progresses sequentially through five standard milestones:

Stage 1: Technical Check & Initial Screening

7 to 10 Days

The Managing Editor verifies format adherence, lines, graphics clarity, and runs automated anti-plagiarism screenings. The Editor-in-Chief assesses scope compatibility and confirms initial validation before dispatching files to senior experts.

Stage 2: Peer Review Round-One Cycle

4 to 6 Weeks

Manuscripts enter an uncompromised double-blind peer-review track evaluated by at least two international specialists. The assigned editor reviews feedback summaries and renders an official verdict (Accept, Minor/Major Revision, or Reject).

Stage 3: Author Modification Window

2 to 3 Weeks

Authors are granted a dedicated processing window to execute revisions based on the reviewers' recommendations. Re-submissions must feature explicit change notes along with clean tracking sheets mapping all modifications.

Stage 4: Post-Review Decision & Acceptance

7 to 14 Days

The Senior Editor checks revised layouts and confirms whether the text meets technical recommendations. Upon definitive validation, an official Acceptance Notification is dispatched, and a dynamic Digital Object Identifier (DOI) is generated.

Stage 5: Production Typesetting & Online Publication

14 Days from Acceptance

Our production team configures XML schema strings, proofreads proofs, embeds final corrections, and publishes the version online in our "Early View" index. It is then compiled into the quarterly active issue framework.

Quarterly Issue Tracking Matrix

Operating under a flexible, continuous flow architecture, manuscripts are uploaded to production instantly upon final confirmation. Individual tracking files are then curated and dynamically bundled into **four quarterly issues per calendar year**:

Issue Assembly Schedule

  • Issue 1 (Spring Release): Compiled and locked by late March
  • Issue 2 (Summer Release): Compiled and locked by late June
  • Issue 3 (Autumn Release): Compiled and locked by late September
  • Issue 4 (Winter Release): Compiled and locked by late December
